Another Day Sober

Grace: The Greatest Gift

Dec 25 — Grace: The Greatest Gift

The greatest gift I’ve ever been given is the free gift of sobriety.

I didn’t earn it. I didn’t deserve it. It showed up anyway.

Grace has a habit of doing that—arriving right when I least expect it and right when I’m sure I’ve blown my chance. If you’re an alcoholic and not drinking for any length of time, that’s grace. A pause. Something stepping in between me and my old desire to hurt myself.

That moment matters.

Somewhere along the way, we were trusted with something big. Not perfection—but purpose. We were given strength we never had before, and a power that shows up exactly where we were weakest. The very thing that was destroying our lives is now the place where we can help others survive theirs.

That’s not an accident.

Sobriety gives me a reason to be here. It gives my life weight and direction. And the wild part is this: it’s the only gift I can keep as long as I give it away.

Today, I’m grateful. Not because life is perfect—but because I’m present for it.

What does sobriety mean to you today—and how have you seen grace show up when you least expected it?
