October 16 — Static Days
“We continued to take personal inventory and when we were wrong promptly admitted it.” — Step Ten
Some days I wake up feeling like I am walking on a cloud. Other days I wake up and it is more like, Okay, I am not drinking today — that is the best I have. Then I look back at the spiritual days and start wondering what I did wrong, like I somehow broke the connection.
Maybe I did. Maybe I did not.
The truth is, I am a spiritual being having a human experience, and some days that human side is just very human. Tired. Moody. Foggy. That does not mean I am failing — it means I am alive.
This is where Step Ten lives.
Some days I wake up and feel off. Not bad. Not broken. Just moving through static. Nothing is especially wrong, but nothing feels clear either. I used to think that meant I had lost my connection. Now I see it as something else: this is what continuing feels like.
Most of my growth does not happen on the days when everything clicks. It happens on the days when I keep going anyway. When there is no emotional reward. No spiritual fireworks. Just the quiet choice to stay pointed in the same direction.
That is what the word continued really means — to extend farther in the same direction.
So on the days when self-pity, dishonesty, or self-seeking shows up without warning, I do not stop. I do not spiral. I keep moving. I try to use the training I have been given. I make the calls. I read the pages. I do the things I do not feel like doing.
And I go.
What helps you keep going on the days when you do not feel anything working?
