Check-Up from the Neck-Up

October 10 – Check-Up from the Neck-Up

“Check yourself before you wreck yourself.” — Ice Cube

Step 10 is the daily check-up from the neck-up — a little spiritual pit stop to see how the engine’s running. Not a guilt trip, just a quick, “Hey, how are you doing with this recovery thing today? There used to be a lot of bad habits going on, and those are hard to shed overnight, any sneak back in lately without you wanting them to?” The road’s rough, and nobody drives it perfect.

Some days I’m cruising; other days I’m leaking attitude all over the pavement. This check-up is pulling over long enough to patch the tire before it blows, tighten a few loose bolts, and get back out there. It’s not punishment — it’s just staying road-worthy, one honest look under the hood at a time.

Which one of your tires usually goes flat first — patience, honesty, or humility — and how does everyone else know before you do?
