That’s a good line for ordinary folks, but for alcoholics it might be wise to say: free your ass, and your mind will follow. A drinking life is a selfish life. In AA we learn we act ourselves into right thinking. Our thoughts and actions had been hijacked by serving what King Alcohol ordered us to do. Haven’t we wasted enough time sitting around giving ourselves excuses to chug while the rest of the world goes on?
As we approach Step Three, we’re standing in the doorway of something new. Regularly attending AA meetings, seeing other people disregard their old ways and have beautiful lives as a result, we want that good life. Have we dedicated ourselves to keep trying in AA? The door is wide open if we want to walk through it.
