Stranger Things

“And life has a funny way of helping you out.”

— “Ironic,” Alanis Morissette

Once we grabbed our seat in AA and even started to consider turning our self-will over, many of us started to notice strange things happening in our lives. It often feels like God shows Himself through chance and coincidence. That’s when the picture starts getting clearer. Are you finally noticing?

When we become wholehearted about this decision in Step Three, we’re promised that our interests begin to shift. We become less concerned with what we can take from life and more interested in what we can contribute to it. Somehow, some way our destructive nature is getting sidestepped.

Have we realized we’ve been given time freely to do what we ought to be doing? A chance for today. We’re now living in the space between our last drink and the next one, and that space can be broad and roomy as we decide to make it.

What’s been getting your attention lately?
