Willingness Doesn’t Mean Weakness

JANUARY 16 – Soft Doesn’t Mean Weak

“It’s not about how hard you hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward.” — Rocky Balboa (2006)

I used to think willingness was a weakness people could take advantage of. I’d spent years proving I could handle myself, hiding pain behind sarcasm or tearing other people down. The idea of letting go felt like volunteering to lose. But real willingness isn’t about being a doormat — it’s about being teachable. It’s laying down my “I got this” mentality. The strength I have now didn’t come from fighting harder; it came from finally admitting I didn’t have to fight. Some days, though, I still catch myself tightening up, mistaking softness for surrender. Am I willing to stay teachable today?

What’s something you used to think was weakness that turned out to be strength?
