Another Day Sober

One Day at a Time (Ain’t So Bad)

“Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.” – Ferris Bueller

We’re finding out that living one day at a time ain’t so bad. Sure, problems still come up, and sometimes they feel overwhelming, but deep down we know something’s different now. We have a power today that can lead us in the right direction.

We thank God we found AA. We thank God we get to live one day at a time. And we thank God we’re staying sober.

Mornings have gotten easier. No more hangovers, no more waking up with that heavy feeling of letting ourselves down again. There’s a little more peace when we open our eyes. We’re learning to stay out of our own self-willed ways, and somehow problems don’t hit as hard. Sometimes they even seem to work themselves out when we’re not forcing everything.

We’ve found real friends in the fellowship, people who understand us, and that takes some of the pressure off life. We’re starting to disconnect from our self-centered nature and lean into thinking about others, and weirdly that takes even more pressure off.

In quiet moments, we can actually feel connected to something bigger than our old lives, and for once the future feels hopeful, and were ready to take it a step further. We can do anything, anything, as long as we stay sober today.

What’s one thing in your life that’s gotten easier since you started living one day at a time?
