Another Day Sober

one day at a time

No Hangover Today

“Each morning sober is a victory we once thought was impossible.” — The Little Red Book, p. 31

Waking up without a hangover still throws me off. I used to open my eyes and instantly check for the damage! The texts, the guilt, the empty bottles. My head would already hurt before my feet hit the floor.

Now we wake up and it’s quiet. Our heads don’t hurt. Our stomachs aren't twisting. We can actually remember where our keys are. There’s no panic, no damage control, no piecing together the night before. Just morning.

It feels good to wake up in the clear. And sometimes that can be scary. Because it’s easy to forget how bad it used to be. This is what better feels like. No hangover. No shame. Just another sober morning we once thought was impossible.

Does waking up without a hangover still feel weird?
