Another Day Sober

one day at a time

One Day at a Time Works

“Living one day at a time freed us from fear of the future and regret over the past.” — The Little Red Book, p. 29

When I first heard people say one day at a time, I didn’t get it. My head was always racing! What about next week, next month, the rest of my life? Thinking that far ahead used to crush me.

But when we just focus on today, it’s not so bad. We can do today. We don’t have to figure out forever. Just stay sober until my head hits the pillow tonight.

Some days we still try to live next week in my head, and that’s when the peace slips away. The future’s not asking for our attention right now. Today is.
