“Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.” — Ferris Bueller’s Day Off (1986)
I’m doing this for me. Not because I have it all figured out, but because I’m tired of feeling sick and tired. There are hiccups along the way, but I’m keeping an open mind about this journey. I love being not hungover. I love remembering what I said last night. I love waking up clear. But sometimes I forget how bad it used to hurt, and that’s when I start thinking I can coast. I’m willing to do whatever it takes to keep this feeling — because for the first time in a long time, I actually want to be here. Am I still doing this for me, or am I slipping back into proving it to everyone else?
What’s one small thing that’s been better since AA got between you and your next drink?
