October 11 – Own Your Scene
“I’m not even supposed to be here today!” — Clerks (1994)
Accountability starts when I stop explaining and start cleaning up. It’s that part of recovery where I admit I made the mess and grab the mop before somebody else slips on it. My ego still wants to negotiate, blame, give excuses, justify, or quietly disappear.
But growth looks more like catching myself faster, apologizing sooner, and saying “my bad” without the legal defense. Half the time the most spiritual thing I do all day is admit I was wrong before someone else has to point it out. It’s not weakness — it’s spiritual maintenance. It keeps my side of the street clear enough to walk barefoot if I need to.
What’s the last mess you wanted to explain instead of clean up — and what happened when you finally owned it?
