Another Day Sober

one day at a time

Something

A guy at a meeting shared something he had heard from a preacher, and it stuck with me.

"What's the most common word people use for God? Jesus? Nope. Buddha? Nope. Higher Power? Nope. The word we hear most often is something. Something changed. Something made this happen. Something did this."

After thinking about that, I realized he had a point. Not everyone comes into AA ready to believe in a God of their own understanding. And that's okay. But it's pretty rare to find someone who doesn't believe in something. Something is keeping me sober. Something brought me to these meetings. Something is putting the right people in my path. Something changed in me. Something is different this time.

For a lot of us, that's where it starts... and maybe that's where it stays. And that's okay. If something is helping you stay sober today, keep following it.

When was the first time you thought, "Something's different this time"?
