Imagine if, just for today, we could get a handle on our pride and lust. Not get rid of them completely. Not become saints by lunchtime. Just turn them down a few percentage points.
Pride says, “I don’t need help from you.” Lust says, “I need this, that, or the other thing to feel complete.” One pushes people away, while the other keeps us reaching for something to fill the hole.
But what happens if we point both toward God?
Maybe pride becomes less about standing alone and more about realizing we are part of something bigger. Maybe we can stop fighting everything and trust that God has us where we're supposed to be. And maybe lust—that constant desire for more—can be redirected too. We can want more peace. More usefulness. More connection.
And how do we get more of that?
Maybe by becoming more service-minded in all our affairs. By asking where we can help instead of what we can get. By getting out of ourselves and into the lives of the people around us.
We don't have to conquer pride and lust today. Maybe we just need to turn them down a little and redirect our attention toward something greater than ourselves.
What would my day look like if I turned down pride and lust by just a small percentage?
