Be Excellent

October 19 – Be Excellent
“Be excellent to each other.” — Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure (1989)

Love and tolerance sound easy — like something you’d see on a bumper sticker next to a peace sign — until you actually try to live it. Some mornings I feel all centered and spiritual, then somebody cuts me off or rambles in a meeting, and there go the horns.

Recovery doesn’t turn me into a saint; it just gives me a few extra seconds before I act like a jerk. That pause — that breath before my sarcasm — is grace in motion. And every time I take it, I’m reminded that everyone’s just trying to win their own battle to get home sober too.

Being excellent isn’t about pretending to be holy — it’s about remembering I’m not in charge of the world and choosing kindness anyway.

When somebody gets under your skin today, can you take that breath and practice grace instead of judgment?
