Volume Down

October 4 – Volume Down
“Don’t let your ego write checks your body can’t cash.” — Top Gun (1986)

Humility doesn’t announce itself. It just turns the volume down on all the noise in my head.

For years, I thought humility meant humiliation — like I had to keep guilt, shame, and remorse front and center to prove I’d changed. But it’s not that. It’s not about thinking less of myself. It’s about thinking about myself less. There’s a difference.

Humility is the quiet moment when I realize I don’t need to be right, admired, or even noticed. It’s freedom from that constant “but what about me?” When I stop auditioning for the world, I can actually show up and be useful. And half the time, that’s the miracle — not that I did something amazing, but that I didn’t make everything about me.

Today, try to do one helpful thing that nobody knows about — and tell no one. Let it stay a little secret between you and God.
