My Way Didn’t Work

“If I keep doing things my way, I’ll end up on the highway — broke down again.” — Imaginary Friend, “Same Old Road”

Our way didn’t work. We tried cutting back, switching drinks, switching crowds, making promises. Every plan blew up in our face. It was like juggling fire and acting surprised when we got burned. We kept thinking we could outsmart the same problem that had beaten us every time.

Every time we swore we’d do better, we did worse. We don’t trust our own plans anymore, and maybe that’s a good start.

How much longer do we need to keep proving our way doesn’t work?
